Tuesday with David

Tuesday April 22nd nine hearty Team Alex volunteers came out to the Marjorie Street Gardens to lend a hand to David Goldman with his inspiring work at the beautiful gardens. David is a longtime friend of Team Alex and to just about everyone else as well.

We began our afternoon with an abbreviated tour of the previously neglected and mostly forgotten B’nai David Cemetery next door. This article  will give some background to the project.

After the cemetery tour, David explained the jobs and we got to work.Through his work at the cometary, David became inspired to beautify the adjacent street. What a labor of love! Most days David can be found there mulching, clearing, planting all by himself. On Tuesday he had company.

We moved wood chips and compost to existing garden areas and picked up garbage for a new garden to be developed. David, who is the brains, brawn, and good heart behind this project worked along side of us, shlepping, shoveling and picking up garbage. We all had a great time and David was happy with the work we did. We are invited back!

As the season progresses there are other jobs will need to be completed. We will keep you posted for other dates to help.
